Rule #1 treat every weapon as if it were loaded even when it's unloaded and you know that it's unloaded because
you just unloaded it. read more in fact that you just checked it, even then treat it with the same respect. with the same mindset that you would a loaded weapon and just that respect generally takes care of any negligent discharge that you might otherwise have and by negligent discharge we're talking about banging off a round you didn't mean to.

Rule #2 never let the muzzle (that is the front of the gun)cover or point at anything that you're not willing to destroy, the fact that the muzzle exists means that it's pointing at something, you need to be what we call muzzle conscious, know where that muzzle is pointing all the time.

Rule #3 keep your finger of the trigger and in fact outside of the trigger guard until you're ready to shoot, When you are pointed in at the target and you have made the decision to shoot is when you put your finger on the trigger and take the shot when you are ready.

Rule #4 Be sure of your target and whats inline with your target, both fore ground and back ground. once the shot has been fired you can't change it's course or get it back. on the street you have to very be conscious of where the bullet is going and who or what it's going to hit.
